If you’ve spent any time on TikTok lately, you’ve probably seen the buzzword “UGC” all around. What exactly is UGC and how can you, as a content creator, take advantage of the UGC opportunities popping up every day.
UGC stands for user generated content. This is when creators make content for brands that the brands own and share to their own social channels. This allows creators with smaller followings (or even no following) to monetize content they create.
Brands are really excited about UGC because it is typically higher performing, and builds trust with consumers. According to a recent survey, consumers are 2.4 times more likely to view user generated content as authentic in comparison to brands created content.
Pricing with UGC varies, and you can charge more with more experience. Personally, I charge $100-250 per video depending on what’s involved.

How can you get UGC opportunities?
The three best ways to get UGC opportunities are to:
- Pitch your services to brands by emailing them directly.
- Go on Twitter and look up hashtags like #ugccreatorsneeded or #UGCopportunity . There, agencies and brands post opportunities.
- Apply on agency/job websites. . Here are the ones I know of:
- Aspire
- Mom Creators (Full transparency, this is my affiliate link with them. I pay for their premium coaching membership and to me it’s super worth it since I like to create content for baby/new parent brands.)
- Upwork
- Palm
Do you need a portfolio?
A portfolio is a necessary asset that most brands will want to see before working with you. While your public social media page could act as a portfolio, it likely would be more productive to choose a few (5-10) of your best videos, upload them to a Google drive folder, and share the link with brands. Alternatively, you can create a website to showcase your past work (that is what I did here.)
If you don’t yet have work to showcase, create content around products you love and use those for your portfolio.
Wrap Up
If you want to start creating content, now is a great time! There are new opportunities popping up every day to work with brands, so this is your sign to start.
