Warm weather is around the corner, the semester has ended and finals are over (thank goodness)! Whether you are spending the summer abroad, at an internship, doing research, or hanging in your hometown, these tips will help you make the most of your summer vacation while you are in college.
Take Time to Relax
The most important part of summer vacation (in my mind) is relaxation time. Remember to slow down, enjoy the serenity of no school deadlines and spend time doing things you don’t normally get to do (Netflix binge watch, go on an extra long run, sleep in). You have just survived a long, hard year of college and you deserve to take a break and relax!
Learn Something New
Summer is a great chance to learn something new just for the heck of it! I highly recommend reading a book about something you want to learn about or teach yourself a new skill (I recently wrote an article here about learning how to code!).
Reconnect With Old Friends
If you are heading back to your hometown, now is a great chance to reconnect with some of your old friends. Having more time in the summer allows you to check in, call or hang out with people you have not seen in a while.
Prepare For the Fall Semester
At this point, you probably don’t want to even think about fall semester! However, with some easy preparation, you can prepare for the fall semester and reduce stress later on. Pick up a book about a topic you are learning in the fall or start researching the textbooks you will need for the next semester.
Create a Summer Bucket List
Summer bucket lists can be a really fun way to enjoy your vacation and try new things! My friend and I loved to make these in high school and spend the summer completing different items on the list. We were never bored because we always had something fun to do from our list.
Make a Summer Inspired Pinterest Board
It might just be me, but creating a Summer Inspiration Pinterest Board (like mine here) always gets me pumped and excited about the summer months! (PS: If you would like to be added as a contributor to this group board, comment on this post or email me at shannon@endlessmay.com). From summer drink recipes to internship tips, I love reading and looking at summer inspired articles and pictures!

Popping over from Short and Sweet, love your blog as well!
Thank you Jess! Hope you are having a great week so far.
Love these ideas, so awesome! I recently graduated from college myself but, I think that these still apply to the “real world” after college too! If you’re thinking of trying something new, I took a wheel throwing pottery class (Groupon!) and LOVED it. So much fun 🙂
