I’m currently laying in bed, snacking on rice crackers and trying to find motivation to start my math assignment. I just returned from an amazing trip to Puerto Rico with some friends (which I will post more about over the next week!). I thought I would leave Spring Break feeling refreshed and ready to dive back into class. However, I am so tired I can barely keep my eyes open.
I want to finish the semester strong. I want to kick butt on my assignments and finish this year in a good place but I feel like my motivation is really lacking. So, to combat that, I decided to write a post on how to finish the semester strong (in an attempt for me to take my own advice!).
If you have been around here for a while, you know that I LOVE lists. I use them for pretty much everything. Near the end of the semester, I like to make a list with all remaining exams, papers and assignments. Being able to visualize what needs to get done is super useful. Then, I can visibly see it get smaller as summer gets closer. Here is the list I put together for the rest of this semester. Also, having it super accessible on my computer desktop makes it easy to find and reference!
Once I turn something in, I erase it from the list!
When we are exhausted and feeling defeated it is so easy to lose sight of our goals and aspirations. Don’t let this happen to you! Create a goal board where you can easily SEE what you are working towards. Creating a goal board is easy and I created a free one that you can download and fill out here! (I even made it black and white so you can print it easily!)
There are so many great online resources for support! Here are links to some of my favorites:
- Sara Laughed: Sara, aside from being a wonderful and kind person (I know because I have gotten the chance to spend some time with her!), has an amazing resource called The Sunflower Circle, a group promotes positivity, balance and self-care in college. This group is exactly the place to find encouragement when times get tough.
- StudySoup: StudySoup is a peer-to-peer marketplace that allows college students to digitally share notes and study guides. If you take great notes, you can actually sell them on this website to help other college students. This is pretty great motivation to pay attention in class if you ask me!
- Metiza: Metiza is an online publication aimed towards young women that has a lot of fun and positive articles. I actually just started writing for Metiza and you can find my latest article here. I really love what Metiza stands for and encourage you to check out some of their articles for motivation!
There are also great resources at your school that can help you when you feel like you cannot keep up with everything! Talk to your RA or advisor to see what your school offers.
Talk to someone about how you feel! Tonight, my friend Lauren and I talked about how I am so tired and so ready for summer. She reminded me of why I am here and what I want to accomplish (something that the goal board above can help with!). I was grateful to talk to her. Find a friend or a family member and tell them how you feel, chances are they are experiencing something really similar!
I hope these tips helped, comment below with how you finish off the semester strong!
