The next eight months of my life are going to be an insane adventure. I will be finishing up my Sophomore year here at Wellesley, flying to New York for a few days for a Women in Tech Conference, flying back to Boston to complete my finals and then flying to Salt Lake to spend a few weeks home before I move to Ohio for the summer for my summer internship. After spending ten weeks in Ohio (with a few weekend trips to Boston and Salt Lake), I will fly home for a week and then leave to spend my fall semester in Amsterdam. Needless to say, I am extremely excited and so grateful for all of the amazing opportunities I have to travel, work and study. It doesn’t quite feel real.
But, what else doesn’t feel real is saying goodbye to my best friends, spending these last moments with my boyfriend Dani before we part ways and packing up my room at Wellesley. I’m trying to remember to enjoy every part of this final week here: the sound of my loud heater waking me up in the middle of the night, coming home to my dorm room to see Delaney studying and then talking about our days for hours, holding hands with the boyfriend, spending time with my friends in Agora, watching the rain fall over Lake Waban.
On Monday morning, I woke up to a text from my Dani that reminded me that I need to make these last moments count. He planned a dinner for us to celebrate “us and this year and life and the fact that I’m going to see you in Amsterdam” (gosh, I love that guy). How lucky I am to have people who want to make me happy.
This school year has been one of incredible personal growth. I don’t often talk about my personal life here on this blog, something that I am working on being more open about. But, I look back at the person I was one year ago today: confused, burnt out and unsure of what I wanted. Today, I am the happiest I have ever been and, while I don’t have the rest of my life planned out (does anyone?), I have a major that I love and have never felt more sure of who I am. It’s crazy how much can change in just a year.
This summer, for the first time in my life, I will live completely by myself-something that is terrifying and exciting all at the same time. I’m excited to share on Endless May pieces of my journey in these next eight months.
P.S. Huge thanks to my lovely friend Lauren for taking these pics of us this week.
